the Reality of Family Bonding

last night, as i was watching a dvr'ed episode of dancing with the stars with my parents, i realized a semi-sad reality. (ha. reality.) one of the number one ways i bond with my parents is by watching trashy reality television. we always make sure to watch Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Apprentice and take our best guesses at which burn-out celeb is going to get kicked off each week. another of my favorite past times is watching Project Runway with my dad. he's gotten quite good at pointing out bad and good fashion. i'm proud. last but not least, i insist on watching The Real Housewives of New York. despite their protests, i know they can't get enough of yenta Jill Zarin and bitching Ramona. now, it is great that i'm able to have this quality time with my parents but it is a bit disgusting that our society obsessed with looking into the lives of the rich and famous while they kill themselves ballroom dancing and try to manage advertising campaigns, or simply just watching them be rich. but i'll admit as i did watching this weeks of Celebrity Apprentice (Sinbad was fired, fyi), "i love famous people!".
