soco amaretto lime

monday i turned 18. the day was pretty good. brian took me to lunch. then i went to the mall with julia. i came home and was bored with nothing to do so stephanie and elsie picked me up. we went to big spoon and then JR's. i stayed there til pretty late until kyle patterson took me home. as far as gifts, i got money mostly. my mom got me some really expensive coach wallet but i feel terrible because i loathe coach. i dont know how she didn't know that. but we are going to return it...:/

birthdays don't make you feel physically different. it is weird for me to really think of myself as an adult. i got an email from CCA saying i need to make an appt to register, in person, and i thought "ok i need to call my dad to see what day is good" but then i realized that the school only specified that i be there because i am going to college and i am going to be an adult. i get to pick my classes, get myself there, and take care of all the technicalities. i've been mostly responsible for myself but now it is a bit more concrete in my mind.

so far summer has been full of fun and late nights. i am having a lot of fun and i'm sure the rest of the summer will continue to be great. bring on the parties!!

bon voyage

wow, so much has happened recently. yesterday i graduated from high school. experiencing these major milestones is always pretty surreal and graduating was probably the most surreal of them all. every year of high school i went to the Baccalaureate and handed out roses to all the seniors clad in their blue robes and this time some sophomore girl was handing me one instead so that i could give it to my parents.

The day began beautifully with mass and awards at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. everyone looked great and was super excited for the days events. every award given out was chosen correctly so there weren't any hard feelings. our class was so full of camaraderie that it would've made you cry. after mass most of us headed to the school for a luncheon. the food was not spectacular but it was nice to have more time to spend with the rest of the class and each other's families. after lunch i went home and enjoyed a long nap before i had to get ready to go to the graduation ceremony. the actual ceremony, at memorial auditorium as is classic for all sacramento high schools, was really great. both geanna's (saludictorian) and hannah's (valedictorian) speeches were really good. mr. barnes was wonderful as usual, our class all cheered for everyone a lot, and the overall feeling was just warm and amazing as we went from christian brother's students to christian brother's alumni. one thing mr. barnes spoke about was the great honor it is to be a Cb alum and he is completely right. graduating from CB is something beyond awesome. the community, togetherness, and support of everyone at CB doesn't just get you through four years of high school. it gets you through life. yes, i am glad to be done with the pettiness of high school. yes, i am so excited and ready to go to college and do what i love. but i also would say yes to the fact that i will visit CB in the future, keep in touch with many of my classmates and teachers, and send my children to a LaSallian school if i have the means and the way (definitely CB if i am in sacramento).

cosmo girl

yesterday i saw the new Star Trek movie. now i'll be the first to admit that one of the main reasons i went was because of all the beautiful men featured in the roles of Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto) but this movie is actually great. (Pavel Chekov and Kirk Snr. weren't hard to look at either.) i specifically remember my semi-trekie father dragging my entire family to the movie theaters when a new Star Trek film came out but being an eight year old girl i remember little else. this film, with interesting camera angles and eerie galactic battle scenes set to soft music, begins at the beginning with Cpt. Kirk's father and his journey through the Star Fleet Academy and becoming Captain of the Enterprise. With an appearance by the original Spock (Leonard Nimoy), an interesting and compelling plot line, beautiful film quality, and nothing less than good-looking actors, this film is more than enough to make anyone a trekie.

in the wise, wonderful words of Spock (whom i have a bit of favoritism toward) Live Long and Prosper.

SMD AP LIt

i totally wrote a 10 page letter to my AP Reader about why i wasn't answering the questions, about myself, about gossip girl, and how i'd miss them. this means three things: 1) i will not pass AP Lit, 2) ms. shackel's pass rate will go down, 3) i will be a living legend come this july.

that is all.

AP's

this week is AP testing and it has been quite the rollercoaster. it was stress, stress, stress in preparation for Government. but that all paid off because the test on monday was cake. the rest of the week i planned on focusing solely on art but Mr. Meegan thought he lost our Gov finals for a quick minute and had us thinking we'd have to take them again...uh no. luckily he found them today. as i write this i am uploading my mediocre-at-best AP portfolio. i really don't think i will pass but i am so relieved i finished everything with time to spare. tomorrow is AP lit and i could care less.

last night i went with Mina to Keegan's 19th bday thing. we had to do a scavenger hunt around west sac and old sac gathering things and finding places. mina and i had a pretty good time. i saw matt for the first time again since the awkward drive-in. i had forgotten just how cute he is, but he didn't have the jeep because now he has a 4-runner. still kind of hott i guess but i know that kid is a lost cause.

this weekend is bound to be looking up. i will be done with any and all school work, other than a religion project which should be pretty easy because my group is Ryan Metzen, Kevin Crawford, and Ibe. my parents are going out of town, there is the senior open mic, and lots of other fun stuff i'm sure.

may day

ugh, so many things remind me of past events/people/etc. that i just can't seem to let go of. they say you can forgive, but for god sakes i wish i could just forget.

but enough with the past because it is becoming more and more evident that the future is fast approaching. that's right, today is May 1st which is the date for college decisions. in honor of this glorious milestone we had a theme day where everyone wore something from the college they are going to be attending next year. it was by far the most successful and meaningful theme day yet.

in more news, tonight is the tower of youth film festival. i'm kind of excited. i went to one before but this time i am more involved because i entered into the contest and a lot of videos i was involved in the creative process of will be showing. i hope CB brings home lots of prizes!
i still have art to do...but i am so beyond done with school right now that it is painful. first priority is finishing the art for the senior video. all weekend i will be coloring.
